047. | LUSH Cupcake Fresh Face Mask

Skincare is the most important step in my beauty routine because having smooth, even, and clear skin is key to making any makeup product look its best. Face masks are great because they are more intense than an every day face wash and give the skin a deeper and more purifying cleanse. The LUSH Fresh Face Masks are somewhat of a cult staple in the beauty community, but I've only recently gotten around to testing a few out myself. The first mask I picked up is Cupcake, and after finishing an entire pot, I can safely say that it is one of my new favorite skincare items. Keep reading for details!

The Cupcake Fresh Face Mask is formulated with rhassoul mud, cocoa powder, vanilla, spearmint, peppermint, and sandalwood oils. It promises to regulate oil production and clear up blemishes. While it is technically designed for teenage skin, I think this would work well on a variety of different skin types. My skin is young, but I don't have acne (aside from the occasional small blemish) or extreme oiliness.

I like using Cupcake because it is very deep cleansing. Living in a bigger city, my skin is subject to all kinds of pollutants. Summertime exacerbates the problem, as my skin becomes more oily and tends to sweat in extreme heat. Normally, I use Cupcake twice a week to get all of the dirt and oil completely cleared out of my pores. I apply the product to my face after I've used a cleanser, and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. Then I wash it off with warm water and apply serum and moisturizer.

The texture of Cupcake is somewhat grainy. The product smells exactly like mint chocolate, which is a nice added bonus. I recommend this product to anyone with oily or combination skin looking for a good deep cleanse. I can't speak to how well this helps clear up intense acne, but it does get rid of small blemishes very easily!

Cupcake retails for $6.95, and has to be purchased in-store at LUSH. The Fresh Face Masks are made with all natural and fresh ingredients, and because of that, only last for two weeks and must be refrigerated.

    1. Lush uses all natural/fresh ingredients so I don't think Cupcake would irritate your skin. Just make sure to use a good moisturizer afterward so your skin doesn't become dehydrated! xx
