063. | Lorac Unzipped Gold Eyeshadow Palette

A few weeks ago, I posted a review of the Lorac Unzipped Eyeshadow Palette. In that post, I explained I picked up two shadow palettes during a sale, and here is the second. The Lorac Unzipped Gold Eyeshadow Palette is a follow up to the original Unzipped Palette. The shadow quality and palette design are identical in both, but the original Unzipped Palette contains neutral mauve and bronze toned shadows, while the Unzipped Gold has gold and peach toned shades. Keep reading for photos and swatches of the Unzipped Gold Palette! (Click here for photos and swatches of the original Unzipped Palette.)

The Lorac Unzipped Gold Palette features six shimmer and four matte shadows. The shadows are creamy and soft. Because of this, they tend to have quite of bit of fallout that can dirty the palette and create a small mess on the face. To avoid this problem, be sure to tap excess product off of the brush before applying the shadows to the eyes. Also sweep off the extra dust that remains in the pan, and sanitize the palette with alcohol every so often.

On the plus side, the buttery consistency of the shadows makes it easy to create a seamless, blended eye look. The powder is very finely milled and extremely easy to work with. Finally, the Unzipped Gold Shadows are packed with pigmentation. Each shade transfers on to the eye exactly as it appears in the pan. The metallic shades are particularly opaque.

Unzipped Gold is a peachy gold palette with deeper neutral shadows for balance. The shades will work on anyone, but look best on warm and tanned skintones. While it is completely possible to create many great looks using this palette alone, I like to bring in soft neutral matte browns from my collection to create a more subtle look for day to day.

Unzipped Gold comes with a sample size of Lorac's Behind the Scenes Eyeshadow Primer. Even though this is sample sized, it will last ages. I received one of these with an order about six months ago and it is still going strong. Behind the Scenes is my favorite eye primer on the market (along with the NARS Smudge-Proof Eyeshadow Base). I like this because it is very thin and applies evenly across the lid. And, of course, it makes shadows last all day long.

The Unzipped Gold Palette is packaged in a smooth ivory cardboard compact with gold detailing, which opens and closes magnetically. It contains a decent sized mirror. The shadows come in large pans (0.39 oz. of product total), so not much space is wasted. The packaging is nice and functional. It's not my absolute favorite, but it's cute and it gets the job done.

Overall, I highly recommend the Lorac Unzipped Gold Eyeshadow Palette. The formulation of the shadows is incredible, and the shade range is stunning and attention-grabbing. The palette retails for $42 and can be purchased at Nordstrom.
