This weekend, I stopped by my local CVS to stock up on a few essentials, and I of course walked out with bags and bags full of things. I don't think I've shared this thus far, but I am crazy about getting a good deal. The entire range of John Frieda Haircare was buy one, get one half off, plus you received $6 ExtraBucks (store credit) for every 2 items purchased. So essentially, I purchased four products for about $13. (I technically paid $25 and received $12 back to use at a later date.)
But on to the actual products, John Frieda, especially the Frizz Ease line, has been my favorite budget haircare brand for as long as I can remember. I don't think you can find better quality at that price point anywhere else in the drugstore. While I love their shampoos and conditioners, as well as their other ranges of products (especially the Sheer Blonde line!), today I'm focusing specifically on the Frizz Ease Styling Products. Keep reading for more!
- Daily Nourishment Leave-In Conditioner: John Frieda claims that the Daily Nourishment Leave-In Conditioner will help hair resist breakage and feel silky smooth, with which I generally agree. I would by no means call this a miracle product, but I don't think leave-in conditioners are ever that incredible, even if they are made by a luxury brand. I use this leave-in conditioning spray every time I wash my hair, regardless of whether or not I blow dry/style it afterwards. I like that it works as a detangler and a heat protectant, as well as a conditioner. I've been through about four or five bottles of the Daily Nourishment Leave-In Conditioner, and highly recommend this as a way to detangle and smooth your hair post-shower. [Link to purchase.]
- Extra Strength 6 Effect Serum: John Frieda makes quite a few hair serums, and to be completely honest, I picked this one out of the bunch somewhat at random. I like that it promises six effects: eliminates frizz, humidity protection, heat protection, smoothes, hydrates, and tames. And I like that it seemed to be one of the most heavy duty of the bunch (the phrase "chronic frizz" is even printed on the bottle). I notice a substantial difference in keeping my hair smooth and tame when I use this. But be warned, if you are dealing with extreme heat and humidity, you're still going to have a bit of frizz and volume. [Link to purchase.]
- Straight Fixation Styling Creme: The Straight Fixation Styling Creme is the only product of the bunch that I've never owned before. When applied before drying and styling, it is supposed to lock straight hair in place for 24 hours. I have only used this twice, but so far I'm really liking it! My first impression is that the Straight Fixation Creme works similarly to (though not quite as well as) the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day 5-in-1 Treatment. I will absolutely continue to use this, and I find it to be a great budget styling cream. However, I think high end products that are similar will out perform this. [Link to purchase.]
- Secret Weapon Touch-Up Creme: Of all of the products featured here, the Secret Weapon Touch-Up Creme is the most effective in controlling frizz and volume. Because this product is applied to the hair after it is dried and styled, it has a stronger formulation. I think of this as a hairspray in a cream form. This is my third time repurchasing the Secret Weapon Creme and I cannot recommend it enough. If you're going to try only one of the four products featured here, go for this one! [Link to purchase.]
Great review! Need to try out that Secret Weapon Touch-Up creme!

I used to use some of the products but I found them a bit too heavy for my hair! I love your review! What kind of hair type do you have?
