020. | Smashbox Photo Finish Oil Free Foundation Primer Pore Minimizing

Smashbox Photo Finish Oil Free Foundation Primer Pore Minimizing. That's quite a name, isn't it? With such a long name, making a lot of promises, I figured this primer had to be magic. Recently, I gushed over the Smashbox Photo Finish Color Correcting Foundation Primer (linked to post), and I had thought I had found my holy grail primer. While I still do enjoy that product, I discovered that my T-Zone seemed to produce oil throughout the day, even with the primer applied under my foundation and powder. So, as I was about to escape to Southern Florida for a much needed vacation, I wanted to pick up something a little more heavy duty to combat the heat and humidity. Keep reading to see how the Smashbox Photo Finish Oil Free Foundation Primer Pore Minimizing performed.

The Smashbox Photo Finish Oil Free Foundation Primer Pore Minimizing is a pale beige color that blends to clear when applied. It has a slippery silicone texture, as most of the Smashbox primers do. I apply the product to clean, dry skin. After application, I wait about two to three minutes to let the product soak into my skin. If foundation is applied immediately after the primer, it cancels out the primer's effect.

Unfortunately, this product didn't wow me as much as I had hoped it would. It did minimize the appearance of my pores and kept oil at bay for about three hours on me. Additionally, it created a smooth, even canvas for me to apply my foundation.

My problem with this product is that it did not minimize my pores or reduce my oil production any more than the Smashbox Color Correcting Primer did. And, with the Color Correcting version, the green tone cancelled out the pink undertones in my skin. The Smashbox Photo Finish Oil Free Foundation Primer Pore Minimizing is by no means a bad product, I just don't think it's the best. Between the two, I would recommend the Smashbox Photo Finish Color Correcting Foundation Primer.

One strange discrepancy: You have probably noticed that I have the travel size version of the Smashbox primer. Here's why - the travel size is 0.5 ounces and costs $15. The full size is 1 ounce and costs $39. So, if you buy the full size, you're paying more per ounce than if you had purchased the travel size. Essentially, buying two travel sized products, you're getting 1 ounce for $30, instead of $39. What the hell, Smashbox?

  1. I'm definitely in need of a pore-minimising primer right now. Was going to give Smashbox a go, but i'm just not too sure! I've just bought porefessional by benefit, hopefully that does the trick! Loving your posts, can't wait to keep up via bloglovin!
